As the Security Manager, you will be responsible for shaping the security strategy of the Rail business unit in alignment with Balfour Beatty's policies. Your role will involve implementing a consistent and integrated approach to asset protection across the organization, aimed at preventing crime, safeguarding people and property, and supporting the pursuit of offenders.



We are open to base location for this role however travel will be expected across the UK.

What you'll be doing



Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Developing and leading on the implementation of new security strategies, policies and practical measures to effectively prevent and deter asset loss Influence and support senior leadership teams by providing subject matter expertise and support Conduct thorough and robust investigations where asset loss has occurred and identify lessons learnt in order to implement future improvement Identify and realise opportunities to conduct discreet investigations and evidence gathering where it is appropriate to do so Recognise the importance of training and educating employees to prevent incidents of asset loss Create and deliver security training and awareness Conduct security site reviews and audits of project locartions and supply chain to ensure compliance with the Security Management Plan and client specific security requirements Set investigative priorities and lines of enquires for investigations Enforce Balfour Beatty Security policies Reinforce the Balfour Beatty Code of Conduct and support the overall Business Integrity programme Lead, develop and coach individuals to build high performing teams and create a pipeline of talent


Who we're looking for

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following essential qualities/experiences:




Significant experience of operational security management including the identification and mitigation of risk Experience in providing solutions by utilising latest technologies and up to date analysis to deliver results which address risk and the needs of the organisation in a cost effective manner Strong knowledge and experience of incident response and investigation processes The ability to lead investigations both from a civil and criminal standard and to demonstrate experience of leading such investigations in a sensitive and commercial environment Basic understanding Security Technology CCTV/AI/Electronic security Proven experience of delivering training in a pro-active and easily understood manner Proficient in the use of IT and data management systems in order to maximise data analysis and to produce management dashboard reports Have or be able to gain a high level UK security clearance Experience of working within a rail business Understanding of the threats that the rail businesses face in relation to crime

The following qualities/experience are desirable but not essential:




Previous experience within the Police, military, rail environment that have required investigation Experience of working at management level, ideally with some construction and large multi-site organisational experience Previous experience of leading fraud and complex theft investigations Security related qualifications Rail/construction qualifications Technical CCTV design
