About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and professional

Security Officer

to join our Estates and Facilities team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, and visitors across our campus.

Applicants must live within a 10-mile radius of Bury College

to ensure availability for shift work, emergencies, and short-notice cover.

Key Responsibilities

Patrol and monitor all areas of the college to maintain a safe and secure environment. Manage access control systems and check identification of visitors and contractors. Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies. Support safeguarding procedures by reporting concerns in line with college policies. Operate CCTV systems and produce accurate incident reports. Provide a visible and approachable presence to deter anti-social behaviour. Lock/unlock buildings and ensure campus facilities are secure at the end of the day. Liaise with emergency services when required. Assist with traffic management and car park duties.

Person Specification

Essential:

SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence. Previous experience in a security role. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. Good knowledge of health, safety, and safeguarding principles. Flexible approach to working hours (including evenings and weekends). Resides within 10 miles of Bury College.

Desirable:

First Aid qualification. Experience working in an educational or public-facing environment. Knowledge of CCTV and access control systems.
