Job Title: Security Officer
Location: Epsom
Contract Type: Permanent - term time only
Working Hours: 16:00-21:00 Monday to Friday and 09:00-17:00 on Saturday.
About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable and professional Security Officer to join our team in Epsom, supporting the safe and secure operation of our library facilities during term time. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong sense of responsibility and excellent interpersonal skills, who are committed to maintaining a welcoming and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor access to the library and ensure compliance with the policies
• Conduct regular patrols of the premises to deter and detect any security incidents
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, escalating where necessary
• Provide a visible and reassuring presence to library users
• Liaise with site staff and external emergency services when required
• Maintain accurate records and incident reports

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a security role, preferably in an educational or public setting
• Valid SIA licence (Security Industry Authority)
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• Basic IT literacy for logging incidents and using security systems
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required
