Job Overview
To be an effective and professional on-site point of contact ensuring the security of our client premises, property and personnel. To provide a flexible service to the customer that accommodates any local requirements or specific requests for contracted services and ad-hoc duties as agreed by Security Management.
Main Duties

  • Protecting premises against unauthorised access or occupation.
  • Protecting property against destruction, damage and theft.
  • Complying with Mitie Uniform Policy including PPEs as may applicable to each assignment.
  • Always displaying valid SIA licences and client issued passes, as may be required.
  • Effective checking of required IDs, controlling and registering vehicle / pedestrian movements in accordance with site assignment instructions.
  • Always communicating professionally and courteously.
  • Escorting and monitoring contractors or visitors to site as instructed by Mitie Management.
  • In line with assignment instructions, maintaining a check on the perimeter and external/internal areas of the site checking for intrusion, fire or flood
  • In line with assignment instructions, conducting regular, highly visible patrols of the site on the perimeter boundary using any tools/PPE as supplied and carry out lockups/lockdowns when necessary.
  • Must be aware and confident with key issuing procedures.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist in all types of evacuations and events that may occur during his/her shift including applying first aid and the use of defibrillators.
  • Completing internal and external patrols and must be confident in using Mitie issued software and equipment and promptly reporting faults to the Control Room.
  • Monitoring CCTV regularly and report any faults as directed to client helpdesk.
  • Operating all alarm systems as available on site for own/staff safety and/or protection of client assets.
  • Ensuring a correct prompt response and reporting of any incidents, faults and/or occurrences
  • Ensuring Health and Safety of own and others on site.
  • Keeping up to date with security guidelines, bulletins and Mitie communications.
  • Reading, understanding and duly acknowledging all communications issued by Mitie, such as Toolbox Talks, Memos, Assignment Instructions, Risk Assessments and Local/Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Complying with welfare check calls requirements and procedures.
  • Complying with all data protection regulations regarding all information accessed during the course of duty such as under the DPA and GDPR.
  • Communicating effectively with site and Mitie Management.
  • Liaising with emergency services as and when required.
  • Duly completing all site documentation including logbooks, Incident Reports, key registers and attendance sheets amongst others.
  • Keeping all equipment and tools supplied by Mitie, in good working order and report all faults and defects promptly.
  • Being punctual and book on and off through Mitie app either manually or using the automated system as may be required.
  • Remaining in post until duly relieved
  • Properly handing and taking over shifts
  • Training and supporting new joiners, as and when required by Mitie Management
  • Being always alert and highly vigilant.
  • Carrying out all reasonable Mitie management instructions as may be required.
  • Adhering to the Company policies and procedures.
Security and Health & Safety
  • Ensuring Health and safety of own and other site users.
  • Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
  • Respond to emergencies and assist in all types of evacuations and events that may occur during his/her shift including applying first aid and the use of defibrillators.
  • Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
  • Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
  • To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
  • Complete an accurate, detailed logbook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
  • Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
What we are looking for- Interested candidates who can-
  • Positively respond to reasonable requests made by Mitie supervisor or management.
  • Be flexible and prepared to work a rolling roster including days/nights/weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Respond to reasonable requests made by the client that falls within contracted scope.
  • Be courteous, helpful and polite at all times.
  • Have the ability to communicate verbally and formally well , at all levels with a team player attitude.
  • Be highly motivated and capable of multi-tasking, coupled with a team player attitude
  • Have a pro-active approach to learning and development.
  • Have the ability to handle a varied workload with attention to detail and be able to work on own initiative
  • Have basic IT knowledge.
  • Have Counter Terrorism (CT) level clearance or SC clearance or be prepared to undergo the vetting process towards CT level clearance.
  • Have been in the UK for at least 3 years with a right to work status.
  • Must be able to satisfy the vetting checks as per BS7858
  • Must be able to work in line with the requirements and standards, as per BS 7499.
  • Possess a valid SIA License for guarding/door supervision and CCTV and/or be prepared to undergo CCTV licence-linked training.
