Job Description

Our client is the GB\xe2\x80\x99s largest independent potato breeding programme and Scotland\xe2\x80\x99s largest seed potato exporting company.

Currently growing around 400 acres of seed potatoes in Kinross-shire and Perthshire from Field-generation 1 through to commercial stocks with on-site box storage for some 8,000 tonnes and grading facilities dispatching around 6,500 tonnes per season over 2 grading lines.

We are looking for an experienced manager to oversee the operations on site comprising:

• Grading line management: organising preparation of stocks and liaising with grading line andyard staff to meet despatch deadlines.
• Liaising with Official inspection staff and customers: preparation of labels and officialdocuments.
• Liaising with customers\xe2\x80\x99 logistics providers domestic and export.
• Stored crop management; monitoring store performance, stock control for re-multiplicationand commercial stocks, updating availability and reporting to sales staff and customers.
• Preparation and despatch of multiplication stocks to the planting operation includingbreeding programme material.
• Growing crop monitoring and rogueing: assessment and reporting of crop quality.
• Crop classification and Assurance Scheme compliance.

Key attributes of the right individual will include:

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A practical and flexible approach to a seasonal workload.
• A positive attitude and the ability to manage, and work as part of, a varied team.
• An interest in all things \xe2\x80\x9cpotato\xe2\x80\x9d.

Forklift, trailer-towing and First Aid qualifications an advantage but training can be given.

37.5 hr working week, Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday, though flexibility and weekend work would be expected in busy seasons (Planting/Harvesting).
