We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised self employed Bookkeeper. The ideal candidate will have good all-round understanding of an account's role, to cover tasks detailed below. An ability to work to deadlines and on own initiative will be essential together with experience of Xero Accounts &Payroll, HMRC & pension submissions and CIS Returns. Experience in the construction industry would also be essential.
Hours will be in the region of around 12-16 hours per week, depending on workload.
After an initial trial period of 3 months, there is an opportunity to negotiate remote working along side 6 hours on site per week.
Responsibilities
Process supplier invoices on Xero - weekly
Supplier statement reconciliations - monthly
Maintain bank feeds on Xero
CIS Submissions - monthly; including provision of statements to suppliers and annual reconciliation
Company credit card analysis & input on Xero - weekly/monthly
Process monthly & annual payrolls on Xero; pension submissions & NEST scheme admin; annual reconciliation
P11D information for external accountants - annual
VAT Returns - submitted via Xero
CITB Return - annual
Information Commissioner - annual
Financial reporting - monthly & adhoc
Providing accounting records to external accountants for statutory reporting, including liaison on queries
Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all transactions are recorded in a timely manner.
Prepare monthly financial reports for management review.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role within finance or accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero and hubdoc
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial reporting.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
Experience in construction industry
