Covering the whole of Stoke on Trent and further afield Matthews Roofing Ltd. is looking for the ideal candidates to assist with a busy workload.

The successful candidates will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining roofing systems on a variety of buildings. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilise a range of tools and techniques, and contribute to high-quality craftsmanship in the construction industry. The position is fully paid and suitable for individuals with a passion for construction and roofing.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and roofing plans to ensure accurate installation and repairs. Install new roofs using appropriate materials such as tiles, slates, or metal sheeting, ensuring durability and weather resistance. Repair or replace damaged roofing components, including flashing, shingles, or membranes. Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication machinery safely and efficiently. Utilise carpentry skills for framing or support structures as needed. Perform heavy lifting of roofing materials and equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations. Conduct masonry or plumbing tasks related to roofing systems when required. Ensure all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and client specifications. Maintain a clean and organised work site throughout each project.
Starting rate will be 160 per day, after a small probationary period this rate will be reviewed dependant on skills and quality of work completed.

Tools and equipment can be provided if the candidate does not hold these. CSCS card holders and preferable, but training and certification can be arranged for the right candidate.

Requirements

Proven experience in roofing or related construction trades. Knowledge of schematics, technical drawings, and roofing plans. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques. Strong understanding of construction principles including carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and masonry work related to roofing systems. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail. Physical fitness to work at heights and in various weather conditions. Valid relevant qualifications or certifications in roofing or construction trades are desirable but not essential.
