We are excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Education Support Worker to join a dynamic educational setting in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Our client, a respected provider of specialist education, is seeking a skilled professional to support young learners with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs on a part-time basis.
As an SEMH Education Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in creating a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students who require additional support. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement personalised strategies that promote academic progress, social development, and emotional well-being.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working with children and young people with SEMH needs, demonstrating empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on their lives. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Key responsibilities of the SEMH Education Support Worker include:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs
• Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement individualised education plans
• Facilitating engaging and inclusive learning activities that cater to diverse needs
• Monitoring and recording student progress, identifying areas for further support
• Promoting a positive and supportive classroom environment that fosters growth and development
• Communicating regularly with parents and carers to provide updates and seek their involvement
• Participating in relevant training and professional development opportunities

To excel in this role, you should have:

• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field (e.g. , Level 3 Teaching Assistant)
• Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs
• Knowledge of effective strategies for supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the unique needs of each student
• A caring and empathetic approach, coupled with a firm commitment to safeguarding
