We are seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting children with diverse social and emotional needs within an inclusive learning environment. This role involves developing tailored curricula, implementing effective behavior management strategies, and fostering a nurturing classroom atmosphere to promote holistic development. The SEMH Teacher will work closely with students, colleagues, and families to ensure each child's educational and emotional well-being is prioritized.
Responsibilities
Design and implement individualized lesson plans that address social, emotional, and academic development.
Develop curriculum materials focused on literacy education, math, physical education, and other core subjects aligned with early childhood education standards.
Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies.
Support children with special education needs, including early intervention programs and preschool experience requirements.
Utilize classroom management skills to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive support plans for students' social and emotional growth.
Engage in ongoing communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and well-being.
Incorporate Montessori or other specialized teaching methods where appropriate to enhance learning experiences.
Participate in professional development activities related to childhood development, childcare, tutoring, and teaching physical education.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Special Education, or related field; advanced certifications preferred.
Experience working with children in classroom settings, including preschool or daycare environments.
Knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management techniques, and classroom management strategies.
Familiarity with curriculum development across various subjects such as literacy education, math, and physical education.
Experience working with students who have social-emotional or behavioral challenges; background in early intervention is advantageous.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, students, and families.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learner needs using inclusive practices like Montessori or other specialized approaches.
Experience with standardized testing procedures and tutoring strategies is desirable.
