We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and enthusiastic

Teaching Assistant

to join our specialist secondary school in

Bournemouth

from

September 2025

. Our school supports pupils aged 11-16 with

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)

needs, and many also have a diagnosis of

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to helping young people re-engage with their learning, develop life skills, and grow in confidence. You will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:



Support students in the classroom with learning tasks and emotional regulation Work 1:1 or in small groups to promote engagement and progress Use a range of strategies to support pupils with autism and challenging behaviour Help create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment Contribute to behaviour support plans and individual learning goals Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals

We Are Looking For Someone Who:



Has experience working with young people with SEMH needs and/or autism (or a strong interest in developing this) Is patient, calm, and confident when managing behaviour Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils who may have experienced trauma or disrupted education Is a team player who values inclusion and understands the importance of consistency and structure Is committed to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of vulnerable learners
