SEMH Teaching Assistant/ Youth Worker

An alternative provision in Welling supports children and young people aged

6 to 19 who have an Education Health and Care Plan.

The setting provides small class groups or one to one learning and focuses on building strong routines and relationships that help each pupil feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

They offer a tailored curriculum that supports both academic progress and life skills. This includes functional skills, vocational learning, personal development and for pupils with more complex needs a semi formal life skills programme. Pupils also access a range of therapeutic interventions including speech and language therapy, social emotional skills support, lego therapy, animal therapy and community based learning opportunities.

The alternative provision is looking for

SEMH Teaching Assistants or Youth Workers

who can support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will help pupils regulate, learn and grow through patience, structure and consistent encouragement

The role

Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in small classes or one to one Helping pupils manage emotions, behaviour and routines Supporting academic learning, life skills and vocational tasks Building trusting relationships based on respect and consistency Working alongside teachers and therapists to provide tailored support Encouraging independence, communication and positive choices
What they are looking for

Experience supporting young people with SEN or SEMH needs Calm, patient and adaptable approach Confidence working one to one or in very small groups Ability to build trust and maintain clear routines Positive attitude and commitment to helping pupils achieve their best Resilience and willingness to learn
This is a great role for someone with a background in youth work, behaviour mentoring, SEN support, mental health, care work or anyone passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 97.68-129.77 per day
