This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a highly inclusive team developing specialist SEMH provision within a special school. As a SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital part in helping children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs access education, develop resilience, and flourish both emotionally and academically.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, using strategies that promote self-regulation, resilience and emotional wellbeing
Adapting resources and approaches to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and EAL, ensuring inclusive access to learning
Encouraging positive behaviour and helping to maintain a calm, nurturing classroom environment
Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and wider staff team to support pupil progress
Building strong, empathetic relationships with children from a variety of backgrounds
The Ideal Candidate
Has experience supporting children or young people with additional learning needs, particularly SEMH
Understands the importance of inclusive practice and differentiated support
Communicates clearly and confidently, both verbally and in writing
Works well as part of a team, showing initiative and reliability
Is calm, caring, flexible and motivated by the desire to see children succeed
Holds an NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification/experience

Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm. Open to both full-time and part-time applicants.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
