We are seeking a motivated Semi-Skilled Assembly Engineer to join our workshop/fabrication team. In this role, you will assist in assembling mechanical equipment and sub-assemblies under supervision, ensuring quality, safety, and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble mechanical components, subassemblies, and final assemblies using hand tools, power tools, jigs, and fixtures.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, parts lists, and work orders.
Carry out measurements, alignments, and adjustments to ensure parts fit and operate correctly.
Use fastening methods such as bolting, welding, riveting, and mechanical joining.
Assist senior engineers or fitters in more complex tasks (e.g. bearing installation, shaft alignment).
Perform quality checks, inspect assemblies for defects, and report non-conformances.
Maintain clean, safe, and organised workstations.
Follow health and safety practices, including use of PPE, and safe handling of tools and materials.
Assist with material handling and movement of components within workshop.
Help with documentation: record assembly times, report completion to supervisors, maintain logs.
Occasionally assist in on-site installations or commissioning support as required.
Skills & Qualifications
Mechanical aptitude and a keen interest in mechanical/industrial engineering.
Basic experience (e.g. apprenticeship, prior role, or hands-on project work) working with mechanical assemblies.
Ability to read engineering drawings, basic geometric dimensions & tolerances understanding.
Competent use of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments.
Good dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and manual accuracy.
Team player with a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to follow instructions.
Strong attention to detail and quality focus.
Basic knowledge of health & safety practices in workshop/assembly environments.
Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Forklift license.
Experience working in fabrication or mechanical engineering environments.
Ability to assist in site work or field installation.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
This is a workshop-based role; occasional site visits or installation support may be required.
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of components/assemblies (up to safe manual handling limits).
Standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
Use of PPE (safety boots, gloves, eye protection, ear protection).
Overtime or flexible hours may be necessary depending on production demands or project deadlines.

Minimum of 40 hours per week. 7.00 - 15.30 Monday- Friday.
Overtime available at the company's discretion.
