to join the SEND Service in a full-time, hybrid role. The successful candidates will support both the Statutory Assessment Team and the Pre-14 Annual Review Team, ensuring children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive high-quality support in line with statutory requirements.
This role plays a key part in the delivery of the Children & Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015, with a focus on Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments and Annual Reviews for children aged 0-14 years.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments within statutory deadlines.
Draft, amend, and finalise EHCPs to ensure accuracy, clarity, and quality.
Support the Annual Review process for children aged 0-14 years, ensuring timely and effective updates.
Work collaboratively with schools, colleges, health partners, and other agencies to deliver joined-up support.
Attend and chair co-production meetings with families, young people, and professionals to develop person-centred plans.
Provide cover and additional resource during busy periods such as phased transfers.
Ensure all statutory requirements and legislative timelines are met.
Contribute to high standards of record keeping, reporting, and use of case management systems.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
GCSE English A-C / 9-4 or equivalent - Essential. SEN Caseworker qualification and/or demonstrable experience as an SEN Case Co-ordinator - Essential.
Experience
Experience working within SEND services in a Local Authority or similar statutory setting - Essential.
Experience managing a high caseload and complex cases - Essential.
Knowledge of the Children & Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice 2015, and SEND Regulations 2014 - Essential.
Previous experience drafting or reviewing EHCPs - Essential.
Experience of working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment - Essential.
Experience of partnership working across schools, parents, and health/social care - Essential.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft accurate EHCPs and correspondence - Essential.
Ability to build positive relationships with families, young people, and professionals - Essential.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and conflicting priorities - Essential.
High level of self-awareness, resilience, and effective coping strategies - Essential.
Knowledge of SEN provision, the National Curriculum, and school procedures - Desirable.
Driving licence and access to transport for business purposes - Desirable.
