Do you have a passion for helping vulnerable young people with SEMH needs and behaviours, empowering them to overcome barriers to learning?
Fresh Start in Education are looking for an experienced and person-centred SEN Education and Engagement Specialist with a background in supporting young people with SEMH needs, to work with a teenage young man in the Raglan area.
In this role, you'll plan and deliver bespoke learning programmes tailored to the student's interests and abilities, as well as providing emotional and behavioural support. Whether it's going to the shops to explore Maths, embedding English into sports or using gaming to uncover the wonders of Science, you'll help them build confidence and a sense of hope for the future.
What you'll be doing:
Working 1:1 or 2:1 with a young person in their home or other setting in the Raglan area
Planning and delivering personalised, creative, educational sessions that reflect the learner's needs, interests and abilities, particularly in Maths and English
Running sessions during the school day (term time only) that typically last 3 to 5 hours
Working flexibly as part of a compassionate, expert-led team that values you and your skills
Who we're looking for:
We welcome applications from individuals who have:
Experience (at least 1 year) supporting young people with SEN/SEMH needs and those with a history of trauma
Experience with Secondary or Functional Skills education
A minimum of 2 consistent weekdays available
An up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
De-escalation and behaviour management skills
What you can expect from Fresh Start in Education:
25-35 per hour, depending on experience
