Cumbria Quality Care is seeking a qualified teacher who has at least one year's experience of teaching young people with autism; who are non-verbal; and who have a severe learning disability.

You will be supporting a young man with severe learning disabilities and supporting him to engage in a bespoke education package that is specific to his needs and abilities.

A detailed scheme of work will be provided so that you are able to follow this independently. This will be reviewed and updated half termly in conjunction with the education lead.

This young person will require 25 hours of educational support and teaching. This will involve co-ordinating day to day education activities, both at home and in the community, using the scheme of work provided as a guide to ensure educational goals are being met.

You will be assisted by the young person's support workers, who are trained in the young persons communication needs, intensive interaction, and how to promote independence within the young persons development.

Responsibilities

To follow the young persons education plan. To plan and co-ordinate day-to-day educational activities, both at home and in the community. To work closely with the Registered Manager and education lead to review the young person's progress and update goals and achievements. To work closely with other professionals, such as SLT and the OT, to implement these plans into the educational activities. To support the young person to attend sensory rooms, swimming and a variety of activities within the community and promote learning within this.

Qualifications & Experience

Teaching qualification/Teaching assistant qualification At least one year's experience of teaching young people with autism; who are non-verbal; and who have a severe learning disability.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 13.80 per hour
