About this client/child:
Lilly, 17, lives with her supportive family. Lilly has her own part of the house that includes a fully adapted bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and therapy room. Lilly loves nothing more than playing practical jokes - when you\xe2\x80\x99re least expecting it, she will jump out on you! Lilly has Cerebral Palsy and severe Learning disabilities. She is PEG fed and has a blended diet via bolus feeds. She is a wheelchair user but does walk with supervision when walking unaided. Lilly can become frustrated and deregulated. For example, if she doesn\xe2\x80\x99t want to do some therapy or if she thinks something is happening and it then doesn\xe2\x80\x99t, this can trigger behaviours which may challenge, and she may hit out. Lilly needs help with all personal care. She is non-verbal and uses Makaton or her iPad to communicate. She has a full therapy team which helps her to achieve goals along with the support of the care team.

Overview of role:
This role is about championing Lilly with progressing her physical and communication skills but just as importantly guiding Lilly in self-regulation. She attends Conductive Education once a week. She also enjoys arts and crafts, making mud pies in the garden, horse riding, body boarding, swimming, the gym, visiting her grandparents and generally being sociable as she loves people and loves a good gossip! She enjoys chilling with her iPad. There is a rota written up 6 weeks in advance so you will know your shift pattern, but there will always be additional hours available covering holidays etc.

Who this job would suit:
Someone with the insight and experience to support young people with Learning Disabilities, and of course having a fun, creative upbeat personality. You will be calm, gentle, and firm in your approach. Listening to Lilly, giving her time to process questions, and make choices. She loves being in the water so you must be a confident swimmer and able to drive. Please do not apply if you cannot drive or swim, it is an essential part of the role.

What\xe2\x80\x99s great about this job:
Bespoke training is given from Physio, OT, Speech & Language, shadow shifts to start with whilst working through the 4-week induction training pack and support from the care team. The family has a fab property in Cornwall and there is the opportunity to accompany Lilly on multiple holidays including the odd holiday abroad. This is a wonderful opportunity for the right *female SEN Support Worker to join this lovely, open, fun family and support superstar Lilly. This is a great role for someone looking to support the same person and make a difference.
