Class teacher for small SEND provision / school's SENCO
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher who wants to specialise in SEND provision and leadership. We are looking to appoint someone to develop a model for, and teach within, a small 'alternative provision' for children with SEND in our mainstream primary school. The role will also involve becoming the school's SENCO within the first year. The successful candidate will have bags of patience, unwavering consistency, and a sincere belief that all children can make progress with the right support.
Hanover is a popular and successful school in a great location by the side of the Regent's Canal. Our pupils are keen to learn and participate, and we teach a rich and challenging curriculum that is constantly improving. We are characterised by our diverse and engaged community, and work closely with our parents and carers. We have very high expectations of both children and adults.
This is a new role for our school. The role will include:
Being our 'specialist SEND teacher' to provide a model of good SEND practice across the school
Teaching a small class of children with SEND, supported by up to two TAs
Being based in class in the morning (teaching), working up to being out of class in afternoon (in SENCO role)
As SENCO, being supported by experienced admin assistance.
Successful candidates will need to demonstrate:
Outstanding teaching, with a strong understanding of how to support pupils with varied SEND learning needs
Consistently high expectations of all pupils, and the ability to enable all to make excellent progress
Successful teamwork
Positive relationships with children, parents, colleagues, and the wider community
Creative and flexible approaches to teaching, particularly in relation to pupils with SEND
Excellent behaviour management
A high regard for inclusion and equality
The ability to make a positive contribution to the school as a whole.
We can offer:
SEND allowance
Motivated and inspiring pupils
A happy, hardworking and supportive team
An excellent working environment
Good opportunities for professional development
A diverse and engaged school community.
We are hoping to appoint a candidate to start in September 2025. However, we may be able to be flexible for the right candidate.
