Job Description

PMLD Teacher - January 2026 Start

Location:

Dagenham, East London

Contract:

Full-time

Start Date:

January 2026

Are you a compassionate, creative, and resilient teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)? An exceptional opportunity has arisen at a specialist all-through SEND school in Dagenham for an enthusiastic PMLD Teacher to join a dedicated and nurturing team this January.

About the Role

You'll be teaching a small class of pupils with complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and medical needs. Many pupils use alternative communication methods such as eye gaze technology, switches, and symbols, so experience or a keen interest in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) is highly desirable.

The curriculum is highly personalised and focuses on communication, independence, and sensory engagement. You'll plan creative and therapeutic learning experiences that support pupils' individual EHCP outcomes and work closely with a multi-disciplinary team that includes speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.

About You

QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (ECTs and experienced teachers welcome). Experience teaching pupils with PMLD, SLD, or complex needs (in special or mainstream settings). A nurturing, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching and learning. Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative mindset. Confidence in using sensory and communication-based teaching strategies.

The School Offers:

A warm, supportive, and well-resourced environment. Small class sizes with excellent teaching assistant support. Regular training and professional development in SEND and therapeutic approaches. A positive, caring community where every child is valued and celebrated.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and making a real difference in the lives of children with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
