: SEN Teacher

Overview: As a Teacher within Poplar House school, you will play a vital role in developing key academic, social and emotional skills with the children. These skills include: critical thinking; skills for life; foundation learning skills; and where possible specific skills, particularly with respect to Secondary Maths. You will design and implement engaging lesson plans, assess student progress, and create a supportive learning environment conducive to knowledge and skills acquisition. You will be open to learning about therapeutic models such as trauma informed practice and you will see therapy as a core part of the learning model.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Develop comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with curriculum standards and educational objectives. Instruction Delivery: Conduct dynamic and interactive classes using a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, practical activities, demonstrations, class and individual discussions, group activities, peer assessments and multimedia resources. Language Proficiency: Focus on developing students' proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the English language in your subject area, catering to diverse proficiency levels and learning styles. This will include liaison with the English Lead Teacher Writing Skills: Guide students in honing their writing skills within your subject area providing constructive feedback and support throughout the writing process. SMSC: Integrate SMSC aspects into your lessons using the SMSC grid and ensure that this is communicated with SLT to update the SMSC provision map within the school. Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer assessments, quizzes, and examinations to evaluate student progress, provide timely feedback, and track learning outcomes on our online system SOLAR. Individualised Support: Provide additional support and guidance to students who require additional instruction or support, offering personalised learning resources as needed. Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment by managing classroom dynamics, fostering mutual respect among students, and addressing behavioural issues promptly and effectively. Parent Communication: Communicate regularly with parents/carers or guardians regarding student progress, academic performance, and any concerns or achievements. Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development activities, such as attending workshops, conferences, and continuous professional development and training sessions, to stay updated on best practices; particularly in your subject areas of expertise.
Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Maths Teaching qualification such as QTS, QTLS or Cert Ed. Proficiency in instructional techniques and strategies for teaching key subjects. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Knowledge and experience of using CPOMS, Arbor and Microsoft Office Sound digital skills Passion for teaching, reading, and fostering a supportive learning environment. Prior teaching experience in an SEMH or Autism specific special school or educational setting is preferred.
