LXP Specialists are working with a primary school based in Warrington who are looking to recruit an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant.
The role is to work on a 1:1 basis with a learner in their Early Years class who is showing signs of challenging behaviour.
The position is part-time working 4 mornings a week and a full school day on a Friday.
The school are looking for a committed individual who will take their role responsibly and ensure they throw themselves into school life. With this being a 1:1 role the successful applicant will commit to having no time off during term time, due to the impact this would have on the learner you would be working with.
The school are happy to receive applications from individuals who hold at least a level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, or are working towards a qualification.
We will also consider applications from youth workers, children residential support workers, and sports coaches. This role is more about the right person to work their learner, who has the capability to notice triggers and deescalate when necessary.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in education and child development, with experience or interest in working with children with social and emotional mental health difficulties. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in special education and contribute meaningfully to children's growth and development.
The position is to start in January 2026 and will be a long term ongoing role.
Duties
Assist teachers in delivering lesson plans and educational activities across various subjects
Support a child with behavioural challenges to ensure they participate fully in class activities
Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
Support with behavioural management strategies and social skills development
Assist in organising classroom materials and resources for daily activities
Engage learner in educational games, play, and learning exercises tailored to their individual needs
Communicate effectively with children, teachers, parents, and other staff to promote positive educational experiences
Skills
Experience working with either children or adults, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, colleagues, and parents
Compassionate attitude and patience when supporting children with behavioural or developmental challenges
