We are currently seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partnered primary school in Plaistow. This is a fantastic full-time, long-term opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with Autism (ASD) in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The successful candidate will work both 1:1 and in small group settings, supporting students with ASD, including those who are non-verbal. You will play a key role in helping pupils reach their full potential by providing tailored support and promoting positive learning experiences.
Role Details:
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Plaistow, East London
Type: Full Time, Long Term
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Term Time Only)
Daily Duties Include:
Providing 1:1 support to students with Autism (ASD), focusing on communication, social skills, and emotional regulation.
Assisting in small group interventions to promote learning and engagement.
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Supporting non-verbal students through the use of alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, or visual supports).
Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour management strategies.
Contributing to classroom activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate.
