Morning Role - Reception Class (AM)
You will join a dedicated early years team supporting children with complex needs. Most children are pre-verbal and require a high level of care, attention, and emotional support.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting children with personal care, including nappy changing and feeding
Providing co-regulation and comfort to help children manage their emotions
Maintaining constant vigilance to ensure safety, especially for children who may mouth inedible objects
Encouraging communication, play, and engagement through a nurturing, hands-on approach
Ideal qualities:
Exceptionally caring and patient
Proactive, observant, and able to use initiative
Collaborative and able to work effectively with other adults in the classroom
Physically active and able to respond quickly to the needs of fast-moving children
Afternoon Role - Year 2 Class (PM)
In the afternoons, you will support a small group of Year 2 pupils with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans. The children are verbal, compliant, and benefit from steady encouragement and focus.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting engagement and focus during learning activities
Providing gentle guidance and encouragement
Promoting independence, confidence, and positive participation
Ideal qualities:
Supportive, calm, and patient
Capable of managing multiple children's needs
Focused on maintaining engagement and task completion
Overall Candidate Requirements
Nurturing personality with the ability to support emotional regulation
Experience with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) preferred
Hands-on and proactive, with confidence in assisting with lunch, feeding, and personal care
Vigilant and safety-conscious at all times
Physically mobile and responsive to a dynamic classroom environment
Experience in SEN or PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) settings is highly desirable
About the Role
Morning: Reception class (complex needs, pre-verbal children)
Afternoon: Year 2 class (three pupils with EHC plans)
Children are generally compliant and non-violent but require consistent supervision and engagement
