Novalis Trust is a charity that supports children and adults with Neurodevelopmental Difficulties and other learning needs. William Morris School is trauma informed, attachment focused, and relationship based supporting young people who in some cases have experienced childhood trauma and adversity and who as a result have complex needs.
Responsibilities for this role:
Teaching Assistants have a crucial role in the school, through establishing key relationships with students, and through these relationships supporting engagement, motivation and skills development.

From 21,850 per annum. Teaching Assistants with relevant experience will be placed at the appropriate level of the pay scale.
Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm.

Teaching Assistant

Main responsibilities
- Providing and delivering learning support to assist teachers and pupils as required by teaching staff
- Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual pupils and groups of pupils
- Providing guidance to pupils on educational and social matters
- Contributing to assessments and reports
- Eating with and providing a safe, creative, and caring lunchtime environment for day pupils
- Delivering teaching materials and learning activities to individual pupils, small groups and class groups as required
- Assisting in the development of courses, teaching materials, teaching programmes, teaching methods and pastoral arrangements
- Promoting order and discipline throughout the school and at outside activities including being trained in physical intervention techniques (Team Teach) and carrying out physical interventions when required
- Participating in staff meetings, assemblies and meetings involving teaching staff as required
- Carrying out associated administrative tasks
General
- Undertaking training in personal and professional skills and in the Trust's ethos and systems and applying these in your working environment
- Assisting in the creation of a caring, stimulating, and safe environment for client groups, staff and visitors
- Safeguarding and promoting the reputation of the Trust
- Taking all reasonable steps to safeguard your health and safety and that of the Trust's client groups, staff and visitors
Mandatory training
- Safeguarding Children in Education and KCSIE updates (annually)
- Safeguarding Adults Online (biannually)
- Online Prevent Training (during induction)
- Health and Safety - Fire/CosHH/food safety/manual handling (every 3 years)
- Team Teach (every 2 years)
- First Aid (1 or 3-day course)
- Advised Training: Trauma Level 4
