Mind The Education is a child-centered support service committed to empowering children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to reach their full potential. We are passionate about creating a nurturing and structured environment where every child feels seen, heard, and supported.

We are now looking for an experienced and compassionate

SEN Tutor

who can provide bespoke, one-to-one or small group tutoring, with an additional focus on

early speech and language development

.

Key Responsibilities:



Deliver tailored educational sessions for children with a range of SEN, including autism, speech and language delays, developmental delays, and sensory processing challenges. Incorporate speech and language support strategies into daily learning, especially for younger children (ages 3-7). Use visual supports (PECS, Proloquo2Go, Makaton, etc.), AAC tools, and multisensory approaches to encourage language and communication development. Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists) to ensure consistent and coordinated support. Monitor and record progress, adapting approaches based on individual learning plans and communication profiles. Provide a calm, safe, and engaging learning environment, using positive behavior support strategies. Encourage independence, social interaction, and confidence through structured and play-based activities.

Essential Requirements:



Proven experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with speech and language needs. Familiarity with AAC systems (e.g. PECS, Proloquo2Go), visual timetables, and other communication tools. Knowledge of or training in basic speech and language support strategies. A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children with diverse needs. Ability to build trust and rapport with both children and families. Strong communication and record-keeping skills. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Pay: 25.56-28.36 per hour
