The SENCO will lead and manage the provision of Special Educational Needs (SEN) within the Nursery Setting, ensuring that all pupils with additional needs receive the support required to achieve their full potential. This role involves working closely with staff, families, external agencies, and children to implement effective strategies that promote inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Development of SEN Policy and Provision
Lead the development, implementation, and review of the Nursery's SEN policy in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
Contribute to vital improvement planning, particularly around inclusive education.
Identify children with SEN and ensure appropriate support is in place.
Coordinate and monitor the delivery of support interventions and assess their impact.
Maintain accurate records of children with SEN and provision made for them.
Support and guide, staff to improve practice in supporting pupils with SEN.
Work collaboratively with parents/carers, keeping them informed and involved in their child's progress.
Liaise with external agencies including Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, and Local Authority SEND services.
Prepare and attend EHCP reviews, Annual Reviews, and relevant meetings.
Track the progress of children with SEN and use data to inform strategic decisions.
Ensure that interventions are evidence-based and lead to improved outcomes.
Report regularly to the senior leadership team on SEN provision and outcomes.
