SENCO WANTED: FOR THE BEST JOB YOU'LL EVER HAVE (AND THE HARDEST YOU'LL EVER LOVE)
Are you an outstanding, experienced SENCO with a heart full of purpose and a head full of strategy? Can you juggle statutory paperwork in one hand, a multi-disciplinary team in the other, while supporting incredible young people with complex needs to absolutely thrive?
If so, keep reading. This one's special.
We're a
vibrant mainstream 6 Form colleg
e with a truly unique twist: we also house a specialist provision for
65 wonderful young adult
s with moderate to severe learning disabilities, autism, physical, and sensory needs. We also support another 65 young people in the mainstream cross college provision.
Every student brings something exceptional to our community, and we're looking for a SENCO who sees, celebrates, and supports that.
What you'll be doing (in between being everyone's favourite person):
Leading with compassion, organisation and (let's be honest) a lot of lists.
Supporting staff across the college - from mentoring new SENCOs-in-training to guiding seasoned teachers in inclusive practice.
Navigating High Needs Funding requests, statutory paperwork, annual reviews - the works - with confidence, speed, and zero drama.
Co-piloting with our fabulous Curriculum Lead and our Inclusion Director to lead a team of dedicated TAs, specialist SEND teachers, and a multi-disciplinary team that includes SALTs, OTs and external professionals.
Ensuring smooth, person-centred transitions both within the specialist setting and into the wider college for students ready to take that leap.
Championing students' social and emotional development, always ensuring provision is age-appropriate and dignity-led.
Supporting families, liaising with local authorities, and being a trusted, steady presence in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
You'll thrive here if:
You love a challenge and genuinely enjoy seeing young people with complex needs flourish.
You're resilient, detail-obsessed, and morally driven - because you know that inclusion isn't just a buzzword, it's a daily commitment.
You bring a little humour to the table. We laugh a lot - it keeps us going!
You believe education should build connection, joy, and real life skills as much as it builds knowledge.
You know how to get things done - with empathy, not ego.
Why here?
Because this place is
real.
We work with amazing young people and families in
Haringey, Tottenham, Enfield, Edmonton, Hackney and Barnet
- communities full of warmth, resilience, and pride, but also impacted by high levels of deprivation and social challenges.
We want someone who sees the potential and joy in our students and is ready to help us take our provision towards excellence.
What we promise:
You will be valued.
You will make a difference.
You will work with people who care, deeply.
And you will probably never want to do anything else again.
So, if you're ready to join a college where
inclusion is real, every single day matters
, and
you'll laugh as much as you lead,
apply now.
Help us on our journey. Make this unique place even greater.
Closing date for all applications; Sunday 24th August
Interviews will take place on Friday 1st September
Please be aware that Haringey Sixth Form College does not support overseas sponsorships for candidates
