We are seeking a dedicated and proactive SENDCO and Deputy Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of our establishment, ensuring that all activities run smoothly and efficiently. As a SENDCO, you will work closely with children, families, key workers, external professionals, and the nursery leadership team to create and implement effective support strategies. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, managing Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes where appropriate, and ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice. As the Deputy manager, you will also be responsible for overseeing staff, maintaining high standards of service, and implementing policies. This position requires strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities
Assist the Manager in daily operations and decision-making processes.
Identify and assess children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) at the earliest opportunity.
Coordinate tailored support plans and interventions for children with additional needs.
Work closely with key workers to monitor and track the progress of children with SEND.
Liaise with parents/carers to ensure they are fully involved in their child's support and development.
Collaborate with external professionals (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists).
Supervise and support staff, fostering a positive work environment.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role is preferred.
Level 3 (or above) qualification
in Early Years Education and Childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 3, CACHE Level 3, or equivalent).
Sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
framework.
Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015)
and statutory guidance.
Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities
.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
Knowledge of first aid procedures is advantageous.
