BRIGHT STARS KIDS DAYCARE VISION AND ETHOS:
We are a family-run nursery in the heart of Plumstead, London. We are called Bright Stars Kids because all little ones are bright stars FULL of potential!

We offer full and part-time spaces for children aged 6 months to 5 years old.
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide high-quality support for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (either diagnosed or suspected) and plan activities/educational programmes appropriate to the stage of development of the child/children. This should be done with the ultimate goal of giving them a firm foundation for life.
To maintain a safe, secure and caring environment and offer full and practical support in the day-to-day running of the Daycare Setting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To support the children in the setting with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
To work with professionals as required to support your key children.
To plan, organise and carry out activities related to the development targets of your key child/key children.
To maintain children's records and carry out observation and assessments.
To be involved and assist the Nursery team in providing a friendly, caring, stimulating, creative and relaxing environment in order to encourage and develop children in our care.
To ensure all daily routines are adhered to.
To ensure the children in our nursery are kept safe and their wellbeing is paramount. This should be done in-line with our safeguarding and child protection policy and all statutory and legal regulations.
To ensure good standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times. This includes daily cleaning rotas, nappy changing, preparation of snacks, cleaning of equipment and other Nursery housekeeping duties.
To assist children with their care needs, including nappy changing, potty training and cleaning children if they have had toileting accidents.
To keep abreast of current changes relating to Early Years Education and SEND. To take responsibility for continued professional development by attending courses (in-house and external), receiving constructive feedback and reading relevant material.
Contribute to and participate in team meetings/team activities, outside of working hours if necessary.
Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented in the Nursery setting.
To communicate with parents/carers and other visitors in a calm, professional, friendly and efficient manner.
To take reasonable care of yourself and others and to comply with the Nursery's Health and Safety rules.
To carry out any ad hoc projects or duties as requested by the Deputy Manager or Manager.
To carry out any other reasonable additional duties as requested by your supervisor and/or Nursery Manager from time to time.

Experience of working with children who have Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND)

Good communication skills (oral and written) - with parents/carers, children and colleagues

Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate
