About the role: SEND / LLDD Functional Skills Maths Teacher




We are looking for an enthusiastic, inspiring

Functional Skills Maths teacher

to join our Lifeskills faculty at Reading College. Our team supports learners who face barriers to education, including young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).


In this role you willspend most of your timetable delivering

Functional Skills Maths

(Pre-Entry to GCSE) across two key programmes:

Tier 3 Work Preparation

- supports learners with EHCPs to build employability skills and undertake external work placements.

Tier 2 Skills for Living

- helps learners with moderate-to-severe learning difficulties develop life skills, independence and personal development.

Both programmes include English and Maths, so you will also contribute to wider Lifeskills sessions when required.


This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher with passion and drive, committed to helping learners build confidence, independence and the skills they need for adulthood.

What do you need to be a successful SEND / LLDD Teacher at Activate Learning?




We are looking for someone who can be a positive role model, flexible, creative and support learners in developing the skills, attitudes and mindset they need to thrive in life and the workplace. You'll need a genuine interest in working with young people and the ability to understand and support a wide range of learning needs.

Ability to teach Functional Skills Maths up to Level 2 (or GCSE resit), adapting content for diverse SEND needs. Positive role-model mindset and commitment to nurturing young people's skills and attitudes for life and work. Genuine interest in SEND and confidence working with a wide range of learning needs. Experience in careers education, wellness, or teaching English is desirable,

but you don't need to be a qualified teacher -

if you bring the right experience and attitude, we'll provide the training and support to help you thrive in further education.
