An exciting opportunity for 1FTE has arisen within the SEND team for a SEND Mediation officer. Whilst we are making significant improvements to the service, we are on a journey and we are seeking an experienced SEND mediation officer to join our team.

About the Role:



To provide key leadership in case management of Mediation cases to ensure that the Council discharges its responsibilities effectively in relation to statutory appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST), which is part of her Majesty's Courts and Tribunal Service (HMCTS).



At the forefront of this journey is the need to work as equal partners with parent/carers, children and young people and other stakeholders. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate high levels of child and person centred practice which focusses on achieving the very best outcomes for children and young people.



You will:



Be thorough and up-to-date on the knowledge of SEN education legislation



Have experience working with young people with SEN



Have good knowledge and awareness of Children and Families Act 2014, SEND code of Practice 2014 and Equality act 2010



Have strong inter-personal skills



Be able to problem solve



Have excellent presentation and communication skills



Have excellent, planning and organisational skills



Be resilient, organised and hardworking
