Job description

We are seeking a caring, patient, and reliable Midday Supervisor to support children with complex needs during the lunchtime period.

You will play an essential role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and inclusion of pupils with a range of needs, including autism, PMLD, communication difficulties, sensory needs, and physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and support pupils with complex needs during lunch in the dining hall, playground, and indoor spaces. Assist with

feeding

, including helping pupils use utensils, encouraging independence, and following individual eating plans. Support pupils with

personal care

, including

toileting

,

changing

, and

hygiene routines

, ensuring dignity and comfort at all times. Provide 1:1 or small-group supervision to ensure safety, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour. Facilitate inclusive social interaction and play using tools such as PECS, visuals, sensory equipment, and communication aids. Help pupils transition calmly and safely between lunchtime activities. Maintain high standards of safeguarding and contribute to a nurturing lunchtime environment.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

Has a warm, empathetic, and patient approach. Is confident supporting pupils with toileting, feeding, and hygiene needs. Can communicate effectively with children who may be non-verbal or rely on alternative communication methods. Remains calm under pressure and can support children with challenging behaviour appropriately. Can work both independently and as part of a supportive team. Is passionate about making lunchtime a safe, enjoyable, and structured experience for all pupils.
