Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND? West Berkshire Council is seeking a SEND Strategy Officer to lead the delivery of our multi-agency SEND & Inclusion Strategy, driving system-wide transformation and continuous improvement across education, health and care.
The Role
As a key member of the Education & SEND service, reporting to the Head of SEND, you will:
Lead strategic implementation and governance of West Berkshire's SEND & Inclusion Strategy
Act as a strategic adviser to senior leaders, elected members, and external partners
Manage strategic projects including service reconfiguration and SEND Inspection preparation
Develop and oversee a multi-agency SEND Quality Assurance Framework
Champion co-production with children, young people, families, and stakeholders
Drive supported employment pathways and preparation for adulthood, including managing grants and partnerships
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes
Degree level education or equivalent professional qualification
Proven experience in strategic planning and project management
Strong understanding of national SEND policy and local government operations
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to analyse data, manage complex projects, and lead change
Commitment to co-production and inclusive practice

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 30 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years' service.
