Job Description

Are you passionate about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you thrive on creativity, teamwork, and making a difference in children's lives? Academics Bristol are seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEND Teacher to work with pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and severe learning difficulties (SLD).
SEND Class Teacher (PMLD/SLD)
Salary: Paid to scale - MPS + 1 SEN Point
Contract: ASAP - 31 August 2027
Location: Bristol
We are looking for a SEND teacher who is:

Passionate about SEND and dedicated to breaking down barriers to learning
Skilled in adapting teaching for children with complex needs
A team player who can work closely with colleagues, parents and professionals
Organised, flexible and resilient, with a good sense of humour

About the role

Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs
Set and monitor progress against Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes and individual learning plans
Lead and support classroom support staff
Work effectively with therapists, families and external agencies
Create a stimulating learning environment that celebrates achievement

Person Specification

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Sensitivity and commitment to students with SLD, PMLD, ASC and associated learning needs
Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team
Knowledge of personalised learning and inclusive practice
