Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to support students with diverse learning needs in an inclusive educational environment. The ideal candidate will assist with classroom activities, implement tailored lesson plans, and foster a positive learning atmosphere. This role is vital in promoting literacy, numeracy, and social development for children with special needs, including those with autism and disabilities. Responsibilities
Support teachers in delivering tailored lesson plans focused on literacy, math, and overall curriculum development for students with special needs.
Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies to create a safe and engaging learning environment.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with autism, disabilities, or developmental delays, ensuring their individual needs are met.
Aid in implementing specialized teaching methods such as Montessori or preschool techniques, including toddler care and early childhood education strategies.
Help facilitate communication skills development and social interactions among students with diverse abilities.
Support students during activities, transitions, and routines within daycare, preschool, private school, or classroom settings.
Collaborate with teachers and other staff to adapt curriculum and activities for children with disabilities or behavioral challenges.
Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and behavior management efforts in accordance with school policies.
Qualifications
Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, including daycare, preschool, private schools, or special education environments.
Knowledge of childhood development theories and experience working with children with autism or disabilities.
Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and classroom management techniques tailored for SEND students.
Experience with behavior management strategies and working with children exhibiting various behavioral needs.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
Background in special education, early childhood education, Montessori methods, or related fields is highly desirable.
Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual student needs and promote inclusive learning experiences.
