Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate

SEN Teaching Assistant

to support students with special educational needs within a school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to provide one-to-one and small group support, helping pupils to achieve their individual learning goals and reach their full potential.

This role would suit someone who is patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Duties



Provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs (e.g. Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, emotional or behavioural needs, physical disabilities). Work one-to-one or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives and adapt lesson materials as required. Assist the class teacher in managing pupil behaviour and promoting a positive learning atmosphere. Support pupils' social and emotional development, fostering confidence and independence. Help with personal care needs when required (e.g. toileting, feeding, mobility support). Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and the SENCO. Prepare classroom resources and assist with setting up learning areas. Promote inclusion and equality within the classroom. Attend training sessions, team meetings, and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs). Ensure all safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality procedures are followed at all times.

Qualifications



GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths) Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Training or experience in supporting children with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs. Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS training. Experience of working within mainstream or specialist school settings. Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a school or childcare setting. A genuine interest in working with young people and helping them to achieve. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay: 11,000.00-15,000.00 per year
