SEND Teaching Assistant - Special School, Hayes (Autism & Communication Needs)



Hours:

Full-Time (8:00am-4pm, Monday to Friday)

Start Date:

ASAP

We are a vibrant special school in Hayes that supports children aged 4-11 with autism and complex communication needs. We believe in meeting every child at their unique stage of learning and enabling them to flourish through a curriculum tailored to individual needs.

Who We're Looking For



We welcome applicants who are empathetic, proactive, and committed to inclusive education. Experience in SEND is helpful but not essential--what matters most is your passion and willingness to learn. We welcome applicants who:

Have experience supporting children with autism, sensory processing needs, ADHD, and social-communication difficulties Are confident with or open to learning tools like PECS, Makaton, BSL, and other augmentative communication methods Can assist with personal care and understand the importance of routine, structure, and positive behaviour support Are patient, proactive, and emotionally intelligent - able to regulate their own behaviour to support a child's regulation Have experience in SEN schools, care settings, nurseries or youth mental health -- or are passionate about entering the field as a future therapist, teacher or support worker

Desirable experience or training:



PECS, Makaton, BSL (basic), Zones of Regulation Manual Handling, Hoist Training, Personal Care Psychology, Speech Therapy, OT or Education studies

Required:



Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service Right to work in the UK Availability 5 days a week, term-time only A resilient, kind and collaborative approach
