A welcoming and inclusive school near Kendal is looking for two compassionate individuals to join their SEND team, supporting pupils with additional needs to feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
This is a long-term position with the potential to become permanent.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside teachers and therapists to provide personalised support to children and young people with a range of needs. From helping pupils access the curriculum to encouraging confidence, life skills and emotional regulation, your role will be key to their progress and wellbeing.
You'll:
Adapt classroom tasks to suit individual needs and EHCP goals
Encourage engagement, communication and emotional wellbeing
Support behaviour using positive, proactive strategies
Assist with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting or mobility (where required)
Promote independence in both learning and daily routines
Help create a calm, inclusive environment throughout the school day
Whether you're supporting learning, transitions or break times, you'll be making a meaningful difference.
Who You Are
This role suits someone with a calm, caring approach who's ready to bring their people skills into education. You may have experience in:
Support work, care, health or social care roles
Working with children or adults with additional needs
Providing personal care in a respectful, dignified way
De-escalation and behaviour support techniques
You'll also need:
A relevant qualification in care, health, education or support work
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A flexible mindset and genuine passion for helping young people thrive

Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm (term time only)

If you take a temporary role with Sense?Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
