. We're looking for a
dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant
to join their committed, welcoming team.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, fulfilling position working closely with pupils aged 4-19 who benefit from
structure, empathy, and personalised learning
. You'll support learning, behaviour, and wellbeing in small class settings, helping students build confidence, regulate emotions, and develop independence.
Your Day-to-Day Could Include:
Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups
Assisting with
sensory regulation
,
visual supports
, and
communication tools
Adapting classroom tasks and following
individual EHCPs
Encouraging
emotional regulation
and positive behaviour strategies
Supporting
personal care
when required (full training provided)
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider school team
Who We're Looking For:
You might come from education, youth work, care, or have personal experience supporting someone with additional needs. More than anything, we're looking for someone who is:
Patient, adaptable, and resilient
A team player
with good communication skills
Comfortable supporting
behavioural and emotional needs
Willing to assist with
personal care
and
follow behaviour support plans
Open to learning approaches such as
PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration
(training provided)
Experience working with children or young people with
Autism, ADHD, or non-verbal communication needs
is ideal--but not essential.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do, and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education, you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
