Apollo Education are working with a nurturing, high-performing specialist setting in Romford for children aged 2-11 with a wide range of complex SEND needs. Classes are small (6-8 pupils), with a skilled and collaborative team of staff supporting a holistic, person-centred curriculum designed to build independence, confidence, and communication from the earliest learning opportunities.
Pupils benefit from multi-disciplinary support including Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and the Special School Nursing Team, as well as a rich, well-resourced environment -- with access to hydrotherapy, soft play, sensory integration spaces, and ceiling hoists throughout.
We are seeking a dedicated, proactive and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience or a genuine interest in supporting children with severe and complex learning needs, autism, physical disabilities, and communication difficulties
Can work flexibly as part of a close-knit class team (typically 1 teacher + 3 TAs per class)
Is confident assisting with personal care (toileting, changing, PEG feeding) and using hoists, or open to training
Communicates with warmth, patience, and clarity with children, staff, and families
Brings positive energy and is ready to engage in hydrotherapy, sensory play, outdoor learning, and community-based activities
Is interested in developing knowledge in areas such as Makaton, PECS, sensory regulation, BSL, and communication aids
Essential Requirements:
Right to Work in the UK
Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service
Full-time availability (Monday-Friday, term-time only)
A good level of spoken and written English
Commitment to safeguarding and supporting pupils with dignity and respect
