Job Title

SEND Teaching Assistant

A rewarding opportunity awaits in a specialist SEND school in West Cumbria, beginning in September?2025. This is a long?term temporary role with the potential to become permanent.

The Role

You will provide dedicated classroom-based support for pupils with severe or profound learning needs, including working 1:1 and in small group settings. This position offers the chance to make a real difference every day in a warm and inclusive environment.

The Ideal Candidate & Skills/Education Needed

Candidates with experience in SEND support are especially encouraged to apply. Transition candidates from care, health, social services or support work are warmly welcomed--transferable skills such as patience, communication and advocacy are highly valued. A Teaching Assistant qualification, childcare qualification or EYFS certification is highly beneficial. Empathy, adaptability and effective communication skills are essential.

This outstanding special school supports pupils aged 3-19 with Education Health and Care Plans . The staff team is committed to individual progress, communication development and preparing learners for life beyond school.

Hours

Monday to Friday, 8.30?am-3.30?pm. Both full-time and part-time applications considered.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. We undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position but long term. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available.
