The Orpheus Centre is a charity and college which supports young disabled adults aged 18-25 to learn essential life skills, gain formal qualifications and prepare for future employment.

All young people who come to Orpheus have a love of the arts and are able to experience music, dance, drama, music technology and visual arts during their time at the college.

We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and professional

SEND Tutor

at our SEN College to join our team of Tutors.

Responsibilities



This role will facilitate a broad range of teaching and learning activities in conjunction with staff, learners, and the wider community to deepen and broaden learners' experience in the fields of catering and life skills subjects, including maths, English, and independence. Working with the wider team, you will be key in the development of a broad and rich curriculum offer for students that supports the acquisition of skills and knowledge in support of their aspirations and future plan.

Full time: 35 hours per week for 44 weeks per year (38 weeks term time plus 6 weeks of training and administration)



Note: hours may be altered on occasions according to the needs of the curriculum and organisation, some evening and off-site work will be involved



Salary: 23,932.13 - 28,306.05 per annum depending on qualifications

Essential qualifications, knowledge skills and experience:



Teaching qualification (Level 3 or above) Qualification equivalent to Level 3 for English and maths Proven ability to teach a range of subjects, including catering, maths, and English, to SEND learners Experience working in a team developing and introducing new initiatives Evidence of personal CPD Knowledge of awarding bodies requirements Knowledge of portfolio evidence gathering for qualifications Understanding of effective utilisation of teaching Ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent computer literacy and administrative skills Ability to be flexible and contribute to all areas of the curriculum including pastoral support Ability to inspire and excite young people to achieve high standards Inclusive of all individual needs Sense of humour Excellent people skills Flexibility when working with others Enthusiasm for learning new skills and engaging with CPD
