About the role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This is a varied role offering a mix of hands-on accounting work, client interaction and team support, with flexibility around working hours and hybrid working.
You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of financial accuracy and compliance, while supporting colleagues and contributing to the continued development of the practice.
Key responsibilities
Preparation and review of annual accounts for sole traders and limited companies
Completion of Self Assessment, Corporation Tax and VAT returns
Bookkeeping, payroll processing and general ledger management
Managing accounts payable and ensuring timely, accurate payments
Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures, including reconciliations and journals
Supporting client onboarding, company formations and preparation for MTD ITSA
Communicating with HMRC and other professional bodies
Using Xero and other accounting software to maintain accurate financial records
Providing guidance and support to team members, including reviewing work where appropriate
Ensuring compliance with internal procedures, accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Keeping up to date with changes in legislation and best practice
About you
Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role within the Accountancy sector
Relevant professional qualifications (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) are preferred but not essential
Minimum 5 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice
Strong experience using Xero (FreeAgent and BrightManager experience is a bonus)
Confident managing a varied workload and multiple deadlines
Strong technical knowledge across accounts, tax and bookkeeping
Approachable, organised and detail-focused
Enjoys working as part of a team and supporting others' development
