NV Cargo, a leading logistics company headquartered in New Malden, London, is looking for a (or seeking a talented) detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as an Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to kick-start their career in accounting within a dynamic and growing organization.We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic freight forwarding team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring compliance with local and international accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reporting in a logistics and shipping environment. The role requires a strong understanding of cost accounting, freight billing, Customs Duty charges.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts specific to freight forwarding operations.

Handle accounts payable and receivable, including tracking of freight charges, port fees, and handling customs/VAT entries

Prepare and issue customer invoices based on shipping documentation (e.g., B/L, airway bills).

Monitor and ensure timely collection of receivables and resolution of discrepancies.

Post daily financial transactions and perform monthly closing activities.

Prepare financial statements and reports for management and external stakeholders.

Analyse shipment costs and provide cost-saving recommendations.

Coordinate with operations teams to validate charges and shipments.

Ensure compliance with local tax laws, including VAT/GST and import/export regulations.

Support internal and external accountants by providing required documentation and reconciliations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

2-4 years of accounting experience, within the logistics/freight forwarding industry.

Strong knowledge of shipping documentation, incoterms, and freight cost structures.

Advanced MS Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage tight deadlines.

Knowledge of international trade and customs regulations is a plus.

Preferred Certifications (Optional):

CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification

Certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus
