West Berkshire Council is seeking a Senior Administrator to provide high-quality administrative support to the Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disability (DC) Service. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective delivery of services for children and young people with SEN and DC, while working in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
About the Role
As the Senior Administrator, you will be responsible for:
Providing comprehensive administrative support to the SEN & DC Service Business Manager
Managing and prioritising incoming enquiries and correspondence.
Responding to a range of telephone calls from both internal and external contacts.
Coordinating and arranging meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on actions
Maintaining accurate records and databases, ensuring information is up to date and easily accessible
Raising purchase orders in addition to tracking and reconciling selected cost centres.
In addition to the above, you will also be responsible for leading and overseeing the work of other administrators within the team, providing guidance and support to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
Proven experience in an administrative role, ideally within a similar environment
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping
Ability to work independently, using initiative to solve problems and make decisions
Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, including parents, schools, and external agencies
Knowledge of SEN legislation and requirements would be advantageous

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per annum (plus public holidays) Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years' service.
