The Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team sits within Central Finance, led by the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. Its primary responsibility is budgeting, forecasting, and providing management information for the Society of Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s, and performance analysis for the Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s Market.

We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join the team and take ownership of the production of the annual budget and periodic forecast and management information (MI). You will also be responsible for performance analysis of a portfolio of syndicates from within the Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s market. This is a high profile role which involves working with senior stakeholders across the business to provide strategic insight and analysis, along with the opportunity to drive better decision making and optimise financial performance.

  • Some of the main responsibilities as the Senior Analyst will include:
  • Owning the budgeting and forecasting processes and cycles for specific functions across the Society of Lloyds including:
  • Developing and providing regular value-added MI to senior management to enable effective decision making to maximise financial performance
  • Establishing clear principles and timetables to support the business in setting budgets and forecasts
  • Challenging the business on the robustness of budget and forecast assumptions to ensure optimised financial performance
  • Owning the annual planning and quarterly forecasting process for a portfolio of syndicates within the Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s Market
  • Supporting the aggregation of the financial budgets/plans from the Society of Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s and syndicates operating at and within Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Review of syndicate quarterly forecasts and assess the reasons for deviations from initial plans and the resulting impact on the Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s Market result
  • Analysing performance trends for syndicates operating in the Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s Market and highlighting issues and opportunities
  • Support management to review and assess syndicate performance on a Year of Account basis, alongside GAAP results, to support the wider assessment of profitability and decisions about remedial actions required by syndicates and the market
  • Produce material to support the presentation of the Society of Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s and Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s Market budgets / plans and forecasts to the Executive Committee, Audit Committee, Board, Rating Agencies, Regulators and other stakeholders
To be successful as the Senior Analyst you will need:
  • To be a qualified accountant with post qualified experience
  • To understand Insurance accounting principles, ideally including those applicable to the Lloyd\xe2\x80\x99s Market
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Analytical skills with the ability to provide value added insights concisely
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with, and create meaning out of large data sets
