The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable individual to work as a Senior Analyst - Licensing in our Supervision (Insurance) Department. Reporting to the Principal, the Senior Analyst - Licensing will be responsible for analysing and processing regulatory requests and applications for insurance licensing with respect to financial institutions in accordance with existing laws and regulations.
This is a key role for the Authority and the post-holder will be responsible for but not limited to:
Completing technical reviews of insurance licensing and other related applications filed pursuant to the Insurance Act 1978 and the communication of decisions to company representatives as required
Assisting with project work in various capacities, including assuming the role of project leader as required
Participating in internal working groups tasked with contributing to the development of and/or enhancements to the regulatory/supervisory framework
Assisting with ad hoc tasks including but not limited to the formulation and periodic updating of policies and procedures, conducting market research, preparing statistical reports and minute taking for both internal and external meetings in accordance with technical competencies associated with the post
Participating in internal and external meetings to discuss regulatory matters, including but not limited to licensing and other related applications and offering technical advice when required
Performing other related work as assigned by Management
This position requires the following skills, abilities and interests:
A bachelor's degree in business, insurance, finance or accounting and/or equivalent qualification in a relevant field from a recognised institution or professional body
A minimum of five (5) years' experience in the financial services industry and/or working experience with a financial regulatory body
Strong analytical, communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to analyse financial statements and write and prepare reports with the view of making recommendations on the appropriate course of action
Previous experience acting as a point of contact and communicating with financial services industry personnel on a broad range of matters
The ability to work independently or as part of a team, prioritise effectively and take a proactive approach in dealing with matters
