About the role

We are looking to recruit 2 Senior Analysts to join the Policy, Performance and Intelligence service. We want you to play an important role in ensuring the council can harness the potential of data, using evidence and best practice to support and inform the development of policy, strategy, plans and budgets, and in turn deliver the Corporate Strategy for Cambridgeshire County Council. The roles will work to support the operational management and strategic planning of services.



The roles we are recruiting to are:



1) Senior Analyst (Population and Engagement Insight) - this role will be employed on a permanent basis.



The role will sit within the Corporate Insight team and responsibilities will include supporting the HR service, leading on Consultation and Engagement support, managing Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Insight, taking responsibility for other relevant corporate datasets and supporting the creation and implementation of the councils DDAT strategy.



2) Senior Analyst (Families First) - this role will be employed on a fixed term basis of 2 years.


In November 2024, the Department for Education published the policy statement 'Keeping Children Safe, Helping Families Thrive: Breaking down the barriers to opportunity', outlining the vision and core legislative proposals for children's social care. This followed the December 2023 National Framework for Children's Social Care, which detailed the vision for the system and desired outcomes.


Following the launch, we are building additional local capacity to drive forward these changes to ensure that children and families in our local area benefit from earlier help and stronger support. This is an exciting time of change and a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping one of the most significant national shifts in children's social care in recent decades.



The Families First Partnership programme has been established to support reforms, aiming to take a whole- system approach to rebalancing children's social care towards early intervention.

The roles will sit within Cambridgeshire County Council's newly formed Policy, Performance & Intelligence service. A team of 50 individuals who provide data, analysis insight and policy expertise to support the operational management and strategic planning of services.

Please note

: The application period for this role closes on Sunday 30th November 2025. We expect interviews to take place on the week commencing 8th December 2025 in person at Sunley House, Papworth.



Shortlisted candidates will be expected to complete a data analysis and presentation exercise as part of the interview, the details of which will be shared at least 5 days in advance of the interview date.


What will you be doing?

As a Senior Analyst, you will be responsible for providing data, insight and analysis to the service. Your role will include:

Leading projects to provide robust, timely and accurate analysis Working closely with the relevant services to understand their needs and respond to requests Developing in-depth knowledge of the services you support, their policies and practice as well as the underlying Management Information systems that they use Leading on the provision of insight reports and benchmarking information Working with key stakeholders to plan and prioritise work Presenting analysis, insights and findings to a variety of stakeholders Visualising data to help non-data users to understand key insights

About you

Are you ambitious, innovative, good with data and passionate with an enthusiasm for supporting evidence led decision making. If so, we may have the role you've been searching for!


We are looking for an individual with strong technical skills, who has a sound understanding of a range of data sources and can practically apply those skills to embed new data solutions. You will have experience of leading projects and supporting others, as well as excellent organisational skills.


Good communication skills, both oral and written, are essential for this role, as the post holder will be required to present complex and sometimes technical information in appropriate forms for a wide range of internal and external audiences.


You will have relevant previous experience in a similar field. A high level of competence with Power BI, data analysis, and specialist data analytical software are also desirable. The successful applicant will be well supported to further develop their subject knowledge and technical skillset.
