About Us
Banners Gate is a multidisciplinary consultancy providing civil, structural, and architectural services for over 27 years. Based in Halesowen, we work with major UK housebuilders including Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon, Barratt David Wilson, and Bromford Homes.
Following a recent management buyout, we are expanding our teams to support continued growth in the residential and housing development sectors, with a focus on urban design and large-scale masterplanning.
The Role
We are seeking an Experienced Architect or Part 3 Architectural Assistant / Senior Architectural Designer with strong technical skills and a proven track record in delivering residential and housing projects.
The successful candidate will work on new housing developments, masterplans, and greenfield projects from concept through to technical delivery, coordinating closely with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
This role offers the opportunity to lead projects through all RIBA stages, ensuring high-quality design outcomes and effective communication across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver design proposals and detailed technical drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
Lead and coordinate projects across RIBA Stages 3-6, from design development through construction.
Engage with clients to discuss project requirements, budgets, and objectives.
Prepare feasibility reports, design presentations, and planning submissions.
Coordinate designs with engineers, surveyors, and other consultants to ensure fully integrated solutions.
Prepare tender documentation, technical specifications, and construction details.
Carry out site visits, review progress, and resolve design issues as they arise.
Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, sustainability standards, and client-specific requirements.
Manage workloads, deadlines, and budgets effectively while maintaining design quality.
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, key stakeholders, and the design team.
Contribute to a collaborative, supportive studio environment and mentor junior team members.
Ability to oversee overall project management and lead a team and multiple projects.
Ambition to develop into management or obtain managerial skills and experience preferable.
Skills & Experience
Demonstrable experience in the residential sector, particularly housing and mixed-use developments.
Strong technical knowledge and experience delivering projects beyond RIBA Stage 3.
Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD (essential); familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite advantageous.
Good understanding of residential design standards, local planning policies, and client-specific requirements.
Excellent communication and coordination skills with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Strong design, detailing, and problem-solving skills.
Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of construction methods, the planning process, and sustainability principles.
