Job Description

Company Description

We're Checkout.com - you might not know our name, but companies like eBay, ASOS, Klarna, Uber Eats, and Sony do. That moment when you check out online? We make it happen.

Checkout.com is where the world checks out. Our global network powers billions of transactions every year, making money move without making a fuss. We spent years perfecting a service most people will never notice. Because when digital payments just work, businesses grow, customers stay, and no one stops to think about why.

With 19 offices spanning six continents, we feel at home everywhere - but London is our HQ. Wherever our people work their magic, they're fast-moving, performance-obsessed, and driven by being better every day. Ideal. Because a role here isn't just another job; it's a career-defining opportunity to build the future of fintech.

This is an excellent opportunity to be a key member of our core Finance team in London. As a Finance Transformation Senior Associate, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening our core accounting capabilities and shaping the future of our financial processes. You will be instrumental in delivering critical transformation projects, with a specific focus on building out our Transactional Ledger and achieving an accelerated financial close for Checkout. If you are a proactive and data-savvy finance professional with a passion for process improvement, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery & Support: Support and drive key workstreams within finance transformation projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to a high standard. You will be actively involved in the end-to-end project lifecycle, from analysis to implementation. Process Optimisation: Use data analysis to scrutinise existing "as-is" accounting processes, particularly those related to the financial close and transactional ledger, to quantitatively identify inefficiencies and control gaps. You will help design and implement standardised and scalable "to-be" processes. Change Management: Contribute to change management activities by preparing documentation, supporting user training sessions, and acting as a point of contact for queries to ensure smooth transitions and user adoption of new processes and systems. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across local and global finance teams. Build strong working relationships to ensure project alignment and support successful outcomes. Governance & Control: Support the implementation and maintenance of a robust control framework for all new processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS). Performance Monitoring: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to help measure the success of transformation initiatives and ensure project benefits are realised.

Required Skills & Experience

Strong Accounting Knowledge: A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent) is mandatory. You must have a solid understanding of core accounting principles, month-end close procedures, and financial controls. Data Analytics & BI Skills: Proficiency in working with large, complex datasets is essential. Experience with data analytics tools is highly advantageous, particularly:

+ SQL for data querying and manipulation.
+ Python (especially libraries like Pandas) for data analysis.
+ Business Intelligence packages such as Looker or Power BI for visualisation and reporting.
Proven Transformation Experience: Demonstrable experience contributing to finance change or process improvement projects within a fast-paced environment. Experience with financial close optimisation, general ledger systems, or process standardisation is highly desirable. Strong Project & Organisational Skills: Proven ability to manage your own tasks and workstreams across multiple projects concurrently. You must be highly organised, detail-oriented, and adept at meeting deadlines. Industry Experience: Prior experience in the Fintech or Payments industry is advantageous. Excellent Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and interpersonal skills. You must be comfortable and credible when engaging with stakeholders at various levels of the organisation. Resilience & Adaptability: A proactive, "can-do" attitude with the ability to thrive under pressure and navigate ambiguity. You are a natural problem-solver who sees challenges as opportunities. Fluency in English is required.
